bleary-eyed

Had a great, relaxing anniversary weekend. The weather was gorgeous, the olympics were exciting and we capped it off with a visit to Cassidy's amazing new house for his birthday party. I'm feeling a little sour and bleary-eyed today but it was worth it. Hanging out with friends in a setting like that is worth a major hangover every now and then.

10th

Today marks the 10th anniversary of my relationship with Shanna. It makes me so happy that we've been together this long. It's the single most important accomplishment in my life and frankly I can't imagine what life would be like without her. I'm so excited that we're getting married in October. The beautiful weather outside reflects how I'm feeling today.

Autumn in August

The weather outside is amazing today and apparently it's going to stay this way all weekend. It's currently 71°F outside, over 20° cooler than our average high for this time of year. I can't remember it ever feeling this good in August in all of my years in South Louisiana.

Not only is it going to be a great weekend for weather it's also going to be a great weekend for sports. Tonight the Saints play their first preseason game against the Jets and the 2004 Summer Olympics begin with the opening ceremonies tonight. Bjork is the featured performer and I'm very excited to see her. Hopefully she'll bust out some of the new Medulla material.

I just checked out the Lot/ek website and it's a real winner. I love the design and the way they present their projects. I've been an admirer of their work for a couple of years but seeing their MDU home installation at the Whitney this summer has thrown me into full fledged fandom. I would love to buy one of their prefab homes, they're so cool.

superfuture describes itself as “urban cartography for global shopping experts”. It’s really a wanky lifestyle website for uberhip trendsters that live in cool cities and aren’t afraid to call themselves jetsetters. Even with that kind of excess I still love the way the guides are organized through maps. I'm also digging the overall site design. The next generation of jlangenbeck.com, currently in development, is sort-of along the same lines.

My friend Greg Gremillion, of ModMusic fame, has recently relocated to London. He’s started a blog and it’s off to a really great start. It will be interesting to watch this hustler of culture do his thing in LDN.

Life to The Pixies
