Shanna and I were awakened this morning by the sound of helicopters outside. I'm sitting in downtown Covington at St. John's Coffeehouse which is serving as it's usual small town social space but there are also strangers in the form of Red Cross, FEMA and other officials having sober conversations about disaster relief. Covington seems to be serving as a staging ground of sorts for the recovery effort. I've even heard that Michael Moore is living here now. There are all kinds of federal, local and state agencies roaming around outside. It's crazy to be able to sit in a coffeeshop and access the internet in the middle of all of this. I'm glad I can though, because I'll be living here for a while. It's nice to be back in a very weird way.
See you in a few hours. We are on our way back from Pensacola. Come by tonight if you can. Love the Saladino's
