This NYT slideshow of chefs' toolkits is pretty neat. I like the contrast between the very organized and the very cluttered. If I were a chef my kit would probably fall somewhere in between, which I guess is still cluttered.

Too many knives. All you need is: chef, paring, bread, cleaver. Then, maybe a filet or chinese cleaver or santoku. Me, I get the filet. Then throw in a spring whisk for making rouxs, a couple of silicone spatulas, and I'm good to go.
